I'm having trouble logging in.
Over the last few months, we were advising Petfinder members that the ability to type your shelter ID# during login would no longer work. Instead, groups were asked to add individual contacts to the "contacts & access" section of their accounts so that each person has their own unique login using their email address.
Regardless, you can try resolving this on your own by doing the following:
- Visit http://www.petfinder.com/ and click "Sign Up" in the upper-right corner. Don't worry if this looks like the "visitor" system that a pet searcher would see. That is normal.
- Click "Sign up with email"
- Enter your name, zip, email address that you believe is listed as a contact for this Petfinder shelter/group, and choose a password. Click "Sign up"
- Now go to https://pro.petfinder.com/ and log in with the email address and password you had just created from the previous step.
Did this give you access to the shelter/group account? If so, make sure you that you add anybody else that should have access to your group account by adding them to the "contacts & access" section of your shelter/group account. They can then perform steps 1-4 above to access your shelter/group account.
If this didn't help or you log in and get a message that you're not associated with any group, please let us know that you still can't log into your shelter/group account and we can assist further.

If you are having trouble accessing your account, please reset your password. To reset your password visit: https://pro.petfinder.com/pro/user/forgot-password/ and enter your email address and click the “Send” button. An email will be sent to you with instructions and a link to reset your password. If you need further assistance, please contact the Petfinder Tech Team and include any error message you might be receiving when you attempt to log in.
How do I Log in
To access your account, please visit https://pro.petfinder.com/ and click the “Log In” button in the upper right-hand corner of the page. Next, please enter your email address and password and click “Sign In”. Upon a successful login, you will enter your group’s account Dashboard. If you have access to more than one shelter or rescue group’s account, you will have the option to select which account you’d like to use. If you have the option to access more than one shelter or rescue group account, just click a group’s name to continue. I logged in and all I see is "About Me" and links to "Account Settings", "Email Preferences", and "Saved Searches". How do I update my pets and information?
