In May 2021, we changed the "ASK ABOUT" button on your pet profiles to instead read "INTRODUCE MYSELF". In an effort to help move along this dialogue, we're included three different buttons in the email inquiry.
A: "REPLY TO [adopter's name]"
Click this button to begin a reply directly to the interested person.
B: "SEND APPLICATION"
Click this button to begin a reply directly to the interested person, along with a pre-filled line indicating "To continue, please complete our adoption application here" This is where you can insert a link directly to your organization's adoption application.
Or, attach your application to the email, and change the wording of "here" to instead say "attached".
C: "DECLINE MATCH"
Click this button to begin a reply directly to the interested person, along with a pre-filled line indicating "Unfortunately, this pet is not available for you to adopt at this time. We do hope that you will check out our other pets available for adoption here: https://www.petfinder.com/, and we wish you the best of luck in your pet search!"
You are welcome to edit, add to this message, or remove it entirely and elaborate as to why they are not a match at this time.
If you need to respond to the interested person another way, you can still get their email address by right clicking any of the buttons above (or long-holding on a mobile device) and choosing to "copy email address". You can then paste the email address into a new email message of your own.
If you're having trouble with any of the buttons in your email system, note that you can click the "View in browser" link to open the message in your device's default web browser. Once there, you should be able to click the links, or copy the email address.
If you have thoughts or comments regarding this new format, you're welcome to click on the "What do you think of this email?" link at the bottom of the buttons mentioned earlier.
